COURSE DESCRIPTION:

This course follows the development of the Pentecostal movement from its origins in Methodism and the holiness movement from the 19th century to present. The objective of this course is to give students a good understanding of the Pentecostal faith and the Pentecostal movement today.

The analysis will be of the Pentecostal movement in total, including several denominations, with a particular focus on the largest Pentecostal denomination, the Assemblies of God and its Canadian affiliate, the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada.

In addition, other topics of interest will be examined, such as doctrinal divisions and contemporary challenges to the growth and sustainability of the movement.
